Ramallah, February 4, 2025 – On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Mariam Foundation for Cancer Control, in cooperation with Al-Mutala’ Hospital and the Ramallah Municipality, organized a medical day under the slogan “Our Health is Survival and Resilience,” with the aim of raising awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection, especially breast cancer.

The medical day witnessed a large turnout of visitors who flocked to benefit from the medical examinations and services provided. The event included mammogram examinations for early detection of breast cancer, in addition to basic medical examinations, under the supervision of specialized medical teams from Astralab Laboratories. The doctors of the Mariam Doctors Project also educated the attendees about various cancers, methods of prevention and early detection, stressing the importance of health awareness in reducing the spread of the disease.
In a special conference during the event, Mr. Mohammed Hamed, Chairman of the Mariam Foundation, expressed his commitment to supporting cancer patients, highlighting the great suffering of patients in the Gaza Strip. He also stressed the need to rebuild the health system in the Strip and ensure that patients are referred back to Palestinian hospitals, stressing that the Foundation will spare no effort to help them and convey their voice to the world. For his part, Dr. Fadi Al-Atrash, Director of Augusta Victoria Hospital, expressed his happiness with the achievements of the Mariam Foundation, praising its efforts in supporting patients and spreading awareness about cancer. He also confirmed his continued support for its activities and encouraged the intensification of community awareness efforts.
Mr. Issa Qassis, Mayor of Ramallah, spoke about the importance of organizing such events in promoting health awareness, stressing the need for cooperation between different institutions to preserve the health of citizens and achieve a community environment that is more aware of cancer and ways to prevent it.
